Iowa Sports Nutrition operates a centralized Fueling Station in the Carver weight room. Student-athletes have access to this Fueling Station before, during, and after strength training sessions. 

 

Purpose:  

  • Provides convenient access to nutrient-dense foods and beverages before, during, and after strength training. 

  • Offers a wide range of options to meet special dietary needs (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, food allergies, etc).

  • Gives student-athletes the knowledge and resources to select foods that meet their individualized health and performance goals.

  • Food of the Month provides exposure to new fueling options and keeps the Fueling Stations fun. 
     

Additional Fueling Stations are located in team locker rooms and practice facilities.

 

  • Fueling Station foods and beverages are delivered to team practice locations across campus, ensuring that student-athletes always have convenient access to performance fueling options.  
     

Fresh smoothies are prepared each morning and delivered to the Carver weight room. 

 

Iowa Sports Nutrition Smoothies contain: 

  • Carbohydrates to replenish muscle glycogen 

  • High bioavailability protein to support post-workout muscle recovery  

  • Antioxidant-rich fruit to combat oxidative stress and inflammation  

  • Fluid to aid with efficient rehydration  

  • Calcium to build and maintain strong bones
